Texan indicted of hate crime in attack on old man

Source: AP

HOUSTON (AP) — A white Houston-area man accused of sucker punching an elderly black man has been indicted on a hate crime charge.

A federal grand jury in Houston indicted 27-year-old Conrad Alvin Barrett on Thursday.

Investigators say Barrett slugged the 79-year-old victim, breaking his jaw in two places, in a Nov. 24 attack in Katy. They say he laughed and shouted "knockout" as the man fell to the ground.

Investigators say Barrett videoed the attack on his cellphone and shared the recording.

It is malpractice when so many journalists call it a game. At least LA Times put it in quotes. nt Bernardo de La Paz Jan 2014 #3

If he ends up the loser most of the time, I'll call that poetic justice.

This punk ass is claiming he is "bipolar and off his meds".......screw that. I am sick and fuckin tired of people using excuses for their bad behavior. I am bipolar and have never punched someone if I didnt take my meds. Also I was sexually, physically, and emotionally abused for many years.....guess what - I mever molested or abused my kids (or anyone elses kids).

Which is so wrong for all the bipolar sufferers who struggle and maintain relatively normal and productive lives and relationships. Maybe they need a dsm code for just being an asshole.

I agree that we are responsible for our behavior. We might not be able to control much of anything in this world except yourself it is your moral duty to learn how to do just that. You are building a very large plus in your karmic bank for coming through horrific abuse and being a moral human being!
