Tiger that injured Roy of Siegfried & Roy dies

Source: AP

Mantecore, the white tiger that injured Roy Horn on a Las Vegas stage over a decade ago, has died. He was 17.

A statement released by illusionist duo Siegfried & Roy on Tuesday said the tiger died from an illness on March 19. No other details were provided.

The average lifespan for such a tiger in captivity is 15 to 26 years, according to the San Diego Zoo's website.

Horn was injured by the 380-pound tiger called Mantecore, whose name is often referred to as Montecore, during a live Siegfried & Roy performance at the Mirage hotel-casino in Las Vegas in 2003.

I'm sorry to see Mantecore die. He was a beautiful beast. Although I know that Siegfried & Roy love their animals and do their best to care for them, I wish that Mantecore would have been able to live out his life wild and free in his native habitat. But sadly we are getting to the tragic point where soon the only tigers left may be those living in captivity.

tiger trainers know that albinos are cross eyed and do not develop well mentally
they are harder to train and more dangerous

He'd have died a lot quicker there with an old man's teeth and blunted hunting skills.

He had a good long life with people who adored him, the best food and medical care.

4. White tigers are bred to be white. It's an unnatural and cruel practice

done by humans who want to use the animals for entertainment and profit.

It's a horrible practice with many tigers inbred, born deformed, and left to be tortured and/or die or be killed - or sold to the exotic medicine trade to be made in to "cures".

And no white tiger would survive in the wild.

There has been ONE white tiger in the wild. All others were bred by humans.

from the fact that there are so few of these magnificent animals left. Yes in his specific case it wouldn't have been a good idea but I think everybody knows what I meant.
