BOSTON (AP) Journalists at The Boston Globe are honoring the victims of last years marathon bombings after being awarded a Pulitzer Prize for the papers coverage of the attack.
Mondays announcement of the award came as the city prepares for Tuesdays anniversary of the bombing. Members of the papers staff tweeted that the newsroom held a moment of silence for the victims.
The Pulitzer committee says the Globe won in the breaking news category for its exhaustive and empathetic coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings and the ensuing manhunt that enveloped the city, using photography and a range of digital tools to capture the full impact of the tragedy.
Three people were killed and more than 260 wounded in the attack, transforming a typically celebratory event into a scene of horror and heroics.

(53,661 posts)the weekend who'd DVR'd the Brian Williams piece and saw many things about how Boston managed the whole thing. They were really on top of it and thinking like leaders do. The program also had interviews with Jeff Baumann and others who went through their stories and recovery. I thought what I saw was a good balance piece and I was impressed. But I don't recommend you see it as the views were just like being there, good and bad. Hope the weather is good and that you enjoy it.

(83,785 posts)Doesn't matter, I did watch it all over and over in the beginning. Hard not to miss here when you had so many friends involved. You know from my posts that many that I knew were either at the finish line watching or working two doors down from that second bomb. I have no idea what they will feel going to work this coming Monday.
One of my friends, her husband is running again. She will be on the VIP bleachers as she was last year.
I have followed their stories, I am amazed at their progress. I posted about Jeff recently, expecting his first child.
Heartbreaking and so very beautiful all wrapped up in one~
Thank you so much freshwest. I plan to enjoy it, the celebration of the run and a celebration of life.
