MILWAUKEE (AP) - Wisconsin Republicans have defeated a tea party-backed resolution demanding legislators pass bills affirming the state's right to secede from the union and nullifying federal laws.

Delegates gathered the party's state convention in Milwaukee on Saturday voted on a voice vote to strip the secession language from the resolution and then voted on another voice vote the entire measure down.
