Breaking with GOP, Romney Backs Minimum Wage Hike
Source: NBC News
Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney said Friday that Republicans should drop their opposition to a minimum wage hike, joining two fellow former GOP presidential contenders in breaking with his party on the issue.
I think we oughta raise it, Romney said on MSNBCs Morning Joe. Because, frankly, our party is all about more jobs and better pay and I think communicating that is important to us.
Romney , who reiterated that hes not interested in another bid in 2016, was the third high-profile Republican in the past two weeks to say that resistance to a minimum wage increase is hurting the partys brand. All three men are Republicans previously elected in states Massachusetts, Minnesota and Pennsylvania with heavy Democratic populations.
Former Minnesota governor and 2012 presidential contender Tim Pawlenty, now the CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, said last month that the GOP should back a reasonable increase in the wage.

(21,115 posts)Republican party...clearly.
But seriously, that is the sound of some Olympic-level bandwagon jumping. Way to take a stand long after any associated risk has passed, Mittens!
As for "our party is all about more jobs and better pay"... that may be the funniest thing I'll read on the internet this month!

(1,665 posts)Did anyone tell him it wasn't a raise in the minimum CEO salary?
I have a feeling someone in his bubble told him it's a mandatory raise in the CEO wages to $10.10 MILLION per year. Because, we heard how he feels about folks who actually makes minimum (regular guy) wage back on the campaign trail and that's part of the 47% of the population he just doesn't care about.
I expect a sheepish "....nevermind...." when he finds out what a raise in the minimum wage really is.

'Course, they took the money you made with your labor and this is nothing more giving you back part of what was yours already, and only a loon would think that was a good trade...but I suspect in his mind that 47% of the people just dropped to their knees in tears, thanking the good Master for his benevolence.
He believes it is his destiny to lead us into his future, and will be trying very hard to walk up on that stage again.
The same kind of faith in a destiny that Reagan brought us, before he closed the door and turned up the heat. "To serve people", he said he wanted.
Some things change very little...

I bet the "pony princess" wouldn't let him have a mental breakdown. Dammit, cause she wants to be First Lady! It's their turn, doncha know?
