Pelosi 'Leaning Toward' Full Participation In New Benghazi Probe

Source: TPM

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is "leaning toward" fully participating in the GOP-led select committee to investigate the Benghazi attacks of 2012, a senior Democratic aide said.

"No decision has been made, but Pelosi is now leaning toward appointing a full complement of Members to the Select Committee on Benghazi," the aide said in an email. "She huddled with leadership at 10 a.m. this morning and will likely hold an additional meeting with leadership this afternoon to update them on negotiations with the Speaker’s office."

The aide, who wasn't authorized to speak on the record, added: "Talks between Pelosi and [Speaker John] Boehner staff continue this morning on remaining items Democrats are asking for to ensure fairness, transparency and balance with respect to the committee’s proceedings and operations."

The committee allows for 7 Republicans and 5 Democrats. It'll be led by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC). Some Democrats have called for a boycott while others have suggested appointing just one Democrat to gather documents and monitor the probe.

calling for Grayson to be appointed in less than a week. This is what Democrats would have wanted in order to be a part of this farce. We called Pelosi and Becerra demanding Grayson be appointed . Since Nancy Pelosi lacks B***s, she took the cowards route and played into Boehner's game plan. Grayson is an excellent attorney , he would have shamed them. I expect little to come from the appointees of Pelosi. They 'll play nice and not reveal this farce for what it is..

correct and fair. If not she validates it anyway just by having the Democrats names on the report. It will be seen as a "bipartisan" achievement by the right and toted as proof or whatever they want to tag Hillary with.

Now by participating in the committee it seems she is disrespecting the families. I don't know if it was really true (no families appeared) but if she was going to participate in the committee she should not have talking about the feelings of the families.

24. Hillary Clinton Driving Democrats’ Benghazi Committee Strategy
Wed May 21, 2014, 02:40 PM
May 2014

Is it better for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if Democrats boycott or participate in the new House investigation of the Benghazi attacks?

That question is central to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s decision whether to appoint Democratic members to the House select committee.

Several Democrats have urged Pelosi not to participate in the committee, saying it is unwise to lend an air of legitimacy to an investigation they have derided as a political witch hunt. But others, particularly those close to Clinton, believe that having Democrats on the panel is the only way to ensure both sides of the story will be told.

On Wednesday Pelosi announced the appointments of five Democratic members to explore the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans:

Elijah E. Cummings (D-MD), Ranking Member, Committee on Oversight & Government Reform
Adam Smith (D-WA), Ranking Member, Armed Services Committee
Adam B. Schiff (D-CA), Committee on Appropriations (Subcommittee on State & Foreign Operations), Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
Linda T. Sanchez (D-CA), Committee on Ways and Means (Subcommittee on Oversight)
Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Armed Services Committee, Committee on Oversight & Government Reform

Surely I'm not the only one who sees the irony.

It's enough to show anyone with eyes to see - ears to hear - we are truly & really fucked. Can't trust a single one of them.
