MIGRANTS: Transfers from Texas set to arrive (Murietta, CA)

With the first group of immigrant detainees set to arrive today at the Murrieta U.S. Border Patrol station part of an effort to handle a crush of migrants in Texas local authorities were scrambling to address an onslaught of concerns from residents.
Theres been interest from all levels, Murrieta Mayor Alan Long said. Which is expected with something like this, where theres a lot of unknown facts.
Murrieta city officials said they were powerless to change federal officials plans, but they held a news conference Monday morning to answer questions, and have scheduled a town hall meeting for Wednesday.
Authorities disclosed Friday afternoon that groups of 140 immigrants, described by Border Patrol officials as families with children, are scheduled to arrive in Murrieta every 72 hours from south Texas, where a massive influx of Central Americans crossing the border has created what President Barack Obama has described as a humanitarian crisis. Many of the migrants are unaccompanied children.
