Chris McDaniel: We've Found 8,300 'Questionable Ballots'
Source: TPM
Mississippi state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R) said Friday that his campaign and his supporters have found "over 8,300 questionable ballots cast" in the runoff election for U.S. Senate, which Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) won.
"For the last two weeks, more than two hundred volunteers for from all over Mississippi have worked tirelessly in an effort to gain access to election records in order to ensure the integrity of the primary process in Mississippi," McDaniel said in a statement on Friday. "We have found over 8,300 questionable ballots cast, many of which were unquestionably cast by voters ineligible to participate in the June 24th runoff election."
The statement is the latest claim by the McDaniel campaign about the evidence it has been hoping to find over the runoff election. Since the runoff, McDaniel and his supporters have accused Cochran, who McDaniel challenged, of foul play and also claimed the runoff was rife with voter fraud. Cochran reached out to African Americans and Democrats to win the runoff.
Earlier in the week McDaniel's lawyer said the campaign had found proof that "several thousand" ineligible voters cast their ballot in the runoff. Cochran won the runoff by 7,667 votes. McDaniel's campaign is hoping to prove that Cochran was only declared the winner through counting faulty votes and there should be a new election.

(53,661 posts)Without a doubt, he is not qualified to serve in any elected capacity.
This is the guy whose staff trespassed in the nursing home to photograph his opponent's wife suffering from Alzheimmer's;
Whose staff got into the courthouse with the ballots led by a woman supporter who said women should be allowed to vote;
I'm sure there is more where that came from, too. A full house of RWNJs surround him.

(42,552 posts)Even in Mississippi there simply are not going to be 8,300 people who voted in one party's primary and were allowed to vote in another party's primary runoff. In an open primary system any other crossing over scenario is legal, no matter how many times he stomps his feet and screams about it.

(30,058 posts)Since he has acted so childish it does cause me concern to be effective as a Senator. His cowboys was not being very thoughtful when breaking into a nursing home to take pictures of Cochran's ailing wife and probably resulted in some turning out to vote against McDaniel. Then if the Democrats turned out to vote against the a$$hole McDaniel, cry all you want but he lost.

(24,284 posts)It's something I always wanted to do, and now that I'm retired I have the time. I just signed up to be on the Grand Jury in my county also.
I'm not doing it for the money, that's for sure. A four hour training session and a 17 hour day on election day netted ne $238, counting mileage driven. The Grand Jury pays $15 a day.
It's all just being the citizen I can be. Mo Son-In-Law was just sworn in as a citizen about ten years ago. He worked with me this election as a clerk, and took a great deal of pride in it.

(7,403 posts)The voter registration log should have flagged all of the Democrats that had voted in the earlier primary as "challenged". Now if the election commissioner failed to create updated voter registration logs so marked then the commissioner should be held accountable for his/her corruption. This type of error should not have been allowed to happen.

(3,335 posts)he and his cohorts have not reviewed or even seen ONE single ballot.
...McDaniel, in the Friday statement, also called on the Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann (R) to allow McDaniel's campaign access to voting records which McDaniel said they have not had access to yet.
"As a result of the misleading information coming from the Secretary of State's office, many Clerks were confused about proper disclosure of election materials to the candidates," McDaniel said. "This has forced the Clerks and my team to needlessly expend resources on mandamus requests for materials that the statutes clearly say I am entitled to review."
McDaniel said Hosemann's office has tried to prevent McDaniel supporters from getting access to voting records by giving circuit clerks inaccurate information about who can access voting records. ...

(7,403 posts)Should show every one of those voters as "ineligible" just like those that request an absentee ballot show as "voted early" on the poll list. They do not get a ballot to cast. End of story. So, unless there was some kind of computer glitch this situation should not have existed. Frankly, I think he is just blowing smoke.

(22,000 posts)but not all of them. The 8,300 votes wouldn't be enough anyway as his campaign would have to be right on about 90% of them. His campaign would need closer to 15-20,000 realistically to be set aside and examined as to whether the person had the right to vote in the runoff.
Given the election is certified, McDaniel is fighting a losing battle.

For baggers, running for political office is a career move even if they don't win, even if they never had a chance of winning. That is why their presidential primaries turn in to such a clown-heavy circus. Most of those candidates are not running for president--they are running for their share of the Republican welfare network.
