Cheney: Any attempt to impeach Obama would be distraction
Source: CNN
CNN) -- Although a fierce critic of Barack Obama, former Vice President Dick Cheney does not support calls from some on the far right of his party to impeach him, saying it would simply create a distraction.
"I'm not prepared at this point to call for the impeachment of the President," Cheney said in an interview with CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."
Cheney believes Obama is "the worst president of my lifetime" and that "Jimmy Carter might have been a better President," but impeaching him is not going to accomplish much.
Both Obama and Carter are Democrats, while Cheney is a conservative Republican who served two terms under George W. Bush.

"Cheney believes Obama is "the worst president of my lifetime""
Shall we introduce him to Chicken Little, aka george bush?

(81,265 posts)He's certainly the most destructive president in American History - since his trickle-down/deregulation policies set the stage for the utter ruin we're all experiencing now. That's the only candidate for this "high office" whom I could see as pushing george w dry-drunk off the top of the list.

First of all, it's worse than laughable to treat him as an expert in anything other than treachery.
Secondly, he deserves to be put on trial not on TV.

(27,814 posts)This line - which is standard fare for CNN - cracks me up:
"Both Obama and Carter are Democrats, while Cheney is a conservative Republican who served two terms under George W. Bush."
Note to CNN: The fact that you feel it necessary to explain to your viewers who Obama, Carter and Cheney are only goes to prove that even YOU know your viewers are too ill-informed to know those basic facts on their own.
Those who KNOW who those people are do not go to CNN for their news.
I've seen this before, and it's laugh-worthy every time. I remember someone talking to Wolf Blitzer about Joe Biden a couple of years ago. Blitzer stopped his guest mid-sentence, turned to the camera and said, "For those of you watching, Joe Biden is the vice president of the United States."
I'm beginning to think that CNN's base audience is comprised of people who really want to watch FOX-News, but don't comprehend the intricacies of changing the channel.

(27,814 posts)... don't know who Dick Cheney is? They have to be told that he was the VP under Dubya?
They have to be told that Obama is a Democrat?
CNN is appealing to the lowest common denominator: the viewer who doesn't know the most basic facts that even totally apolitical people are aware of.
Fact is that anyone who has even a passing interest in politics knows who Cheney is, and knows what party Obama is from. And the person who DOESN'T know those simple basics is not watching CNN - he's watching Duck Dynasty reruns.

(1,423 posts)You soiled the American people with your corruption and torture. Fred Sanders is right. CNN should be shamed for giving him a platform. I tossed away my old tubes a long time ago and suggest people do the same. Mainstream media doesn't tell the truth.
When these criminals get their airtime it never ceases to amaze me how they go about doubling down on their crimes without ever being called out on it. Where is real journalism and media resistance?
