Both Sides In Ukraine Deny Shooting Down Plane

Source: ASSOCIATED PRESS

PETER LEONARD – JULY 17, 2014, 1:04 PM EDT

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — A Ukrainian official said a passenger plane carrying 295 people was shot down Thursday over a town in eastern Ukraine. Malaysia Airlines tweeted that it lost contact with one of its flights over Ukrainian airspace.

As huge plumes of black smoke rose up near a village in eastern Ukraine, the fate of the passengers aboard the plane wasn't immediately known.

Anton Gerashenko, an adviser to Ukraine's interior minister, said on his Facebook page the plane was flying at an altitude of 10,000 meters (33,000 feet). He also said it was hit by a missile fired from a Buk launcher, which can fire missiles up to an altitude of 22,000 meters (72,000 feet).

The Donetsk region government said a plane crashed Thursday near a village called Grabovo, which it said is currently under the control of armed pro-Russian separatists. The region where the flight was lost has seen severe fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia separatist rebels in recent days.

What about the Pro-Russian Tweet that was sent bragging of their success in shooting down a Ukranian Cargo Plane, just moments before the MH Airliner was reported as shot down?
Certainly no one will claim this as their own horrific deed.

There have been stories about them shooting down planes for a day or so now out of both Kiev and various other sources. About consistent with their general level of competence too. Not that the other side is much better, but Kiev has no reason to be shooting things down.

Option 1:
The Ukrainians managed a massive drive deep into rebel territory, set up a SAM site for the planes the rebels don't have, shot down the plane, then packed up and left. All without being detected or discussed by the rebels and the locals

Option 2:
The rebels thought they were shooting at another cargo plane.

Hmm....which is more likely......

The separatist rebels most likely shot down the jet, imo. But there's so much BS propaganda coming from both sides, I would view any report as questionable, especially social media.

I do not know what, if anything hostile between the two countries will take place because of this.
Of course no one will claim ownership but doesn't the Pro-Russian tweet & its timing, point the finger at the culprit?

The CIA is behind it

In a blog post, Malaysia’s former prime minister, Mahathir Mohamad, wrote that he believes the US Central Intelligence Agency must know something about the plane’s fate.

He also claimed that Boeing, the plane’s maker, and “certain” unnamed government agencies, are able to take control of commercial airliners such as the missing Boeing 777 remotely if necessary.

“Airplanes don’t just disappear,” he wrote on his blog. “Certainly not these days with all the powerful communication systems, radio and satellite tracking and filmless cameras which operate almost indefinitely and possess huge storage capacities.

“For some reason, the media will not print anything that involves Boeing or the CIA.”

Until there is absolute proof that the 777 is at the bottom of the Ocean, Mahathir's statement makes sense. I've always believed the Boeing was hijacked. Who was on board that flight & what political or business association they are involved with, is always a question with my theories.
But I'm not inclined to theorize in the direction of aliens.
There is a human explanation for this missing flight.

A Malaysia Airlines passenger plane was reportedly shot down near the Ukraine-Russia border Thursday killing all 295 people on board, an adviser to Ukraine's interior ministry said.

Both government officials and pro-Russia separatists fighting in the region denied responsibility.

An aide quoted by Interfax said the total number of dead in the crash was more than 300 and includes 23 U.S. citizens, while an Associated Press reporter at the scene reported seeing at least 22 bodies.

In brief comments made in Delaware Thursday afternoon, President Obama said the White House was aware of reports of American fatalities and was working to determine whether there were U.S. citizens on board flight MH17.
