U.S. Gives Israel More Grenades and Mortar Rounds for Gaza Offensive
Source: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States has allowed Israel, waging an offensive in the Gaza Strip, to tap a local U.S. arms stockpile in the past week to resupply it with grenades and mortar rounds, a U.S. defense official said on Thursday.
The munitions were located inside Israel as part of a program managed by the U.S. military and called War Reserves Stock Allies-Israel (WRSA-I), which stores munitions locally for U.S. use that Israel can also access in emergency situations.

(5,082 posts)They are launching bombs into the most densely populated place on earth. And people wonder why terrorists want to attack us? 911 was a sucker game facilitated by the neocons. They got wind if what was being planned with their hundred billion dollar surveillance apparatus and then made sure it went off without a hitch to get us here. Oil, money and power. Frankly I'm sick of the small minds that cannot fathom such a sequence of events but hey I don't understand the stupidity of the Tea Party either. We are all paying for this mass murder. Karma is real people.

(2,345 posts)It's pretty clear from what Israeli spokespersons have been saying on the news the last few days that, because rockets were once found by UN personnel in a closed school and destroyed, Israel considers all UN faciliites in Gaza to be fair game as targets.
It also seems clear that, whenever the UN gives Israel coordinates for a civilian shelter in Gaza, that facility ends up on some kind of target list. Giving them the coordinates just seems to be helping them in their efforts to slaughter innocents.

(310 posts)I did and they put every single post of mine for days to Jury. Even on topics not having to do with Israel they put all my posts up to the Jury and lied to the jury about what I had posted ...be careful because Israel a topic that exposes one to censorship. There is no appeal to Jury and there are no rules of evidence. In my case I posted an article by an author and they attributed to that Author [Paul Craig Roberts] a racist quote by Pat Buchanan....several jurors cited that in their votes to censor....there are people here on DU who know how to use the Jury system to shut up people....

(53,661 posts)This is not part of Reid's recent bill for the Iron Dome, their defense system, not mortars or grenades. They are not giving anything new. I doubt they will fund any new offensive weaponry. Israel will have to clean its act up and that is going to take a long time after they've been condemned. They're killing themselves with these acts.

We are forced by a compliant media to listen daily to every republican nutcase whine their 'talking points' about not wanting their tax dollars spent on feeding the poor, aiding the veterans, helping the sick, fixing our economy, etc., but has anyone heard one complaint against having their tax dollars wasted on war, on killing? Support for Israel or any other country should be moral and (to be as charitable as possible) not straddle the fence like this.

(1,832 posts)I saw worse in Iraq. And unfortunately if you lob hundreds of rockets at a nation there is going to be retaliation. I imagine had Hamas not launched rockets for weeks on end into Israel those kids would not be dead now. But you don't want to see the cause and effect of it all, you just want to bash Israel.

(1,832 posts)I would care less if they were white. I do love the DU racial Olympics though where if anyone has a differing opinion they must be white or something along those lines.
And no I am displaying nothing of the sort. I feel for those dead children and their families. But the fact of the matter is that those children would be alive is Hamas did not fire rockets into Israel. Come at me all day if you want to, but that is pretty damn close to factual truth. If Hamas did not fire into Israel, those kids would not be dead.
Cause: Hamas fires rockets into Israel
Effect: Israel (like any nation) defends itself and people die.
Don't like dead kids, don't fire rockets into Israel or support those who do. That is not being ignorant or cruel. That is living in the real grown up world where every action has a reaction.

(1,832 posts)Had nothing to do with the hundreds of rockets.......Sure, of course your argument pulled out of nowhere makes sense and my argument pulled from the facts is wrong. U4ikLefty

Hundreds of rockets fired by Hamas have led to dead kids. Hamas doesn't fire rockets kids don't die, but that interferes with your narrative of evil Jews.
AnalystInParadise
(1,832 posts)So before July of this year
207 Total attacks by Hamas on Israel
1 retaliatory strikes by Israel
So that gives us a ratio of 207:1 Palestinian attacks versus Israeli ones....but yeah Israel did none of this because of rocket attacks.

(1,832 posts)Multiple tours slightly different job each time, so which time are you asking about.
You want to make this about dead kids, sorry if I don't want to take your bait. The truth is those kids would be alive and well if Hamas did not fire hundreds of rockets into Israel. We can go back and forth all day, I prefer to live in the factual logical world where kids don't die if Hamas does not fire rockets into Israel. Civilians should not be targeted but I have been deployed enough in my twenty year military career to know that anytime you put rounds downrange you are likely going to hit innocents. It sucks, and it will always suck, but that is the nature of war.
DisgustipatedinCA
(12,530 posts)If you're inclined, that's the part I want to hear about.
AnalystInParadise
(1,832 posts)I don't consider myself callous, but I also refuse to excuse Hamas for causing all of this. Dead kids are Hamas' fault. Had they not been launching rockets into Israel day after day, week after week, those kids are not dead. I frankly am stunned at your callousness to use dead kids to push your agenda. That's what is so callous and disturbing.
As for my time in Iraq, I was an Intelligence Analyst. Had to review every AAR of engagements, collateral damage, etc. I have seen worse unfortunately. But at the end of the day, Israel is still the good guys. Had Hamas not launched those rockets for so long these kids would still be alive. Or do you think differently?

I am ignorant of nothing, in the real world we support less than desirable people to get U.S. interests fulfilled. We always have and we always will. Every President in the 20th century has blood on their hands from "allies" they supported that were not good people. I advise you to join me in the real world where good guys today become bad guys tomorrow if it suits our national interests. That is not some rant, that is reality, read a book or watch some documentaries. For now, Israel is the good guys for us. Our national policies toward them reflect this as truth. If it changes, then they become the bad guys. But listening to PBO, Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer, I don't think they will become bad guys in our national mindset anytime soon.

(3,829 posts)Israel is allowed to endlessly bully the Palestinians in the worst way, with many of the offenses far worse than the revenge rockets that the Palestinians fire back, but when the Palestinians do fire some rockets back, Israel has a right to obliterate them.
