Girl power: Friends shot with Malala share her joy

OSLO, Norway (AP) — Malala Yousafszai wasn't alone when she was shot by the Taliban for having the temerity to demand an education.

Two other girls were also attacked that day in Pakistan and Malala hasn't forgotten them. She brought her friends with her to Oslo, Norway, so they can share her joy as she receives the Nobel Peace Prize.

Shazia Ramzan, 16, and Kainat Riaz, 17, hugged their friend and posed for pictures with her Tuesday before telling reporters that all three are bound together in what they called "Mission Malala" — joining with people around the world to make sure that young girls get a chance to study.

"When you are educated, you are able to do everything," Riaz said. "If you are not educated, you can't do anything."

...jaded and cynical in so many ways over the years. But if you ask me who inspires my faith in the future it is certainly not other old white guys. It is a young lady who despite almost being killed by the most evil of men, is the one who restores my faith in the future.

And I hope people take a bit of inspiration from their experience, and that they got right back up to continue on their mission, I know I'm certainly inspired, and more then a little proud to see people like the, out here, doing what they believe in.

More like...certain radically religious individuals (The Taliban) suck, they aren't just stuck to Pakistan, and I'm 100% sure there are very kind people in Pakistan, people perhaps that are like The young girls spoken of in this article.

Pakistan happens to have a nasty dictatorship that doesn't want to do
much business or "play nice" with the US.

They are no worse than nations that also have nasty dictatorships that America
has found it can make deals with, and counts on as allies and supporters (re:Saudi Arabia).

Some folks miss this key American foreign-policy irony.

Good 4 U--You don't.

That's the way a FoxBot would think.

At DU, most folks are better than that.

Just a guess, but I bet you are too.

but, Pakistan has been the epicenter of terrorism since the 1980s. The Pakistani military and ISI, its intelligence agency, use terrorism as a state policy and strategy. Almost all the terrorist attacks in India are perpetrated by Pakistani ISI with funds funneled to NE separatists, Kashmiri separatists and Naxalites/Maoists via Bangladesh and Nepal.

Pakistan refuses to hand over terrorists to India and gives them safe haven just as they gave safe haven to Usama bin Laden and are currently protecting Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

Pakistani ISI has founded, funded, armed and trained terrorist outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammad, Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jama'at-ud-Da'wah. They are fronts for ISI and that is the main reason why Pakistan would not hand over their leaders to India or the US.

Remember that Daniel Pearl was about to publish links of Pakistani leaders to terrorism which is why he was murdered by the ISI.

Also remember that 9/11 funds were wired by Pakistanis and the 7/11 bombings in London were all carried out by people of Pakistani origin.

I could post hundreds of links here but you can do some research yourself and get informed.
