Christine Cavanaugh, Voice of Chuckie From ‘Rugrats,’ Babe the Pig Passes Away

Actress Christine Cavanaugh, best known as the voice of Babe the pig, Gosalyn Mallard on Darkwing Duck, Chuckie on Rugrats and Dexter on Dexter’s Laboratory, passed away on Dec. 22. She was 51. No cause of death has been released.
Although Cavanaugh appeared on camera in roles on television series like Cheers, Salute Your Shorts, The X-Files and ER, it was through her voice work that she found her greatest, and longest-lasting, success.
“She was able to do incredible and amazing things with her voice and bring lots of smiles and many laughs to many people who are now young adults,” states her obituary, published today in the Los Angeles Times.
Cavanagh began acting in 1988, earning her big break three years later as the voice of Gosalyn, the adopted daughter of Drake Mallard, on Disney’s Darkwing Duck. Soon after, she landed the role of Chuckie Finster on Rugrats, followed by that of Bunnie Rabbot on Sonic the Hedgehog, Marty Sherman on The Critic, Oblina on Aaahh!!! Real Monsters and, of course, Dexter on Dexter’s Laboratory. She could also be heard on Cave Kids, 101 Dalmatians: The Series and The Powerpuff Girls, among other shows.
