Republicans target security funding to fight Obama on immigration

Source: Reuters

Republicans in the House of Representatives are pursuing a strategy to choke off funding for President Barack Obama's recent immigration order that could force a shutdown for parts of the Department of Homeland Security.

Republican lawmakers and aides said on Wednesday that a funding measure for DHS, which secures U.S. borders, airports, coastal waters and other critical facilities, as well as controlling the agencies that are to implement Obama's immigration order, could be introduced by Friday and ready for a vote next week.

The sprawling agency was not included in a $1.1 trillion spending bill passed in December so that Republicans could retain leverage to fight Obama's plan to lift the threat of deportation for millions of undocumented immigrants.

With Republicans now in control of both the House and Senate, they stand a much greater chance of passing a measure aimed at stopping the immigration order.

To try and gain the hispanic vote no doubt!

I guess it's better for their rich corporate donors if people are NOT given a chance to become legal workers since it's so easy to take advantage of those who don't go through the process the president wants them to go through so they can work, be treated fair, and not be taken advantage off by their employers!

The republican way is to push wages down any way they can and they know that if millions of immigrants become legal workers, they won't be able to do that like they have done since Reagan came up with is amnesty program back in the 80's, which only helped the employers not the workers.

by the Pukes and Baggers?

I simply cannot believe that this is what an actual majority of Americans wants...but, if people are so fucking lame and lazy to not vote...then I guess the majority of those that did vote, won.

Dog help us all.

Let's see them pursue this under some kind of made up bullshit, with events that just took place in France.

They have degraded into bending/changing/breaking rules by removing funding, attaching to must pass legislation and any hack they can think of to inflict the damage their corporate owners wish.
