How sweet deal turned sour for Jeb Bush

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by greatauntoftriplets (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Miami Herald

Jeb Bush was out of the Florida governor’s mansion for less than a year when he signed a $15,000-a-month consulting deal with InnoVida, a Miami start-up promising to revolutionize affordable housing with remarkably sturdy and lightweight building panels.

But InnoVida never delivered. Instead, the company crashed amid bankruptcy and fraud investigations that ultimately landed its charming CEO, Claudio Osorio, in federal prison for nearly 13 years. A bankruptcy trustee went after Bush’s fees, and in 2013 the former two-term governor agreed to pay back more than half of the $470,000 he collected as a consultant between late 2007 and the fall of 2010.

Bush, who also served on InnoVida’s board, was never accused of wrongdoing in Osorio’s Ponzi-like swindle that prosecutors said netted him and other co-conspirators about $50 million. But InnoVida occupies noteworthy real estate in the broad landscape of Bush’s business dealings, since it’s the only one to have ended in the kind of full-blown scandal that occurs when a CEO is led away in handcuffs.

InnoVida’s salacious finale is drawing renewed attention as Bush readies for a presidential run. The Republican touting the power of free enterprise in his “Right to Rise” campaign served on a corporate board that presided over a venture fraught with bogus accounting statements and fictional business deals.

This is not just Silverado Savings and Loan, and it's not Marvin or Neil. IT'S J E B !

Here is the rest of my laundry list!

His wife can never be a first lady. She lied to the feds about 20K in purchases she was bringing back into the U.S. from Paris. Jeb's been a big philanderer. Two of his children have been in the news in the past years for arrests linked to drug problems, public intoxication, and sex in public. (don't confuse the W's kids).
Then there is the family issue of robbing banks. One, the Silverado Savings and Loan, several ways into which many in the Bush family were involved, and also many politicians still in office today. Jeb, George Sr., and his son Neil Bush have all been implicated in the Savings and Loan Scandal, which cost American tax payers over $1.4 TRILLION dollars, one quarter of our national debt. One also thinks it's polite to take up the Asian hookers when presented.
Their grandfather worked for Hilter, and HW lied about working for the CIA. We were to believe this when he was chosen to head the CIA agency?
The entire family has been an "AMERICAN DISASTER'.
Then there is Jeb's Nigerian water pump bribery scandal back in the courts, just last year! Illegal immigration is an "act of love".

Let us not forget that Jeb Bush defaulted on a $4.56 million dollar loan from the Broward Federal Savings in Sunrise, FL. After federal regulators closed the S&L, the office building that Jeb used the $4.56 million to finance was reappraised by the regulators at $500,000.00, which Bush and his partners paid. The taxpayers had to pay back the remaining 4 million plus dollars, as in the past. This family robs banks and created a drug war to run drugs. Just read Barry and the Boys. Barry Seal flew planes for the CIA and ran drugs for HW and a few others.

So spare me if I'm a little sad to even THINK ABOUT ANOTHER BUSH RUNNING! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? US?

Must we put ourselves through this again? Or will the voting machines Jeb ushered in do it for us?

With all the Bush crime family money, how much did Jeb really need another 15K a month anyway?

This single family has done more harm to the nation than any declared enemy of the USA in history.

Doubt that?

Just check it out.

All the other stuff is damaging, for sure, but his part in that poor woman's fate was despicable. And unique -- no other politician held such an active role, I believe. I think (hope) even Republicans run away from that shameful incident.

And some on the right see it as an advantage...to have a crime family in charge of things.
And without a doubt there is more than what you posted...it runs deep and long.

Par for the course when it comes to the Bush Crime Family. Where ever a Bush goes, death, corruption, and greed are sure to follow.

have been a noted crime family for years. Marvin is one of the few who has escaped scrutiny. His specialty is using his connections to move jobs overseas. Neil is dumb as a brick, but the billionaire republicans have always taken care of him. The task of compiling all the criminal activity of this family is virtually impossible.

Could the Repugs steal another election? Of Course. All electronic voting machines should be trashed. Going back to hand counted paper ballots is perhaps the only way to avoid Repug election stealing. Gerrymandering can be easily stopped. Democrats should be working to abolish the Electoral College. It is both out of date and useless, except that Repugs now believe by splitting each states electoral votes, along with gerrymander districts, will ensure the election of whatever moron they choose to run. If the Democrats do nothing, America could end up under the leadership of Louie Gohmert. Or Jeb Bush. Stupid
or criminal. Great choice.
