People power: 500 strangers turn up at the home of cancer-stricken Tom Crawford to stop eviction.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2923567/Bailiffs-trying-evict-cancer-stricken-father-mortgage-blunder-fSupporters called for the bailiffs to stop harassing the couple. Eric Banner, 30, who lives in Nottingham, said: What has happened to Tom is a complete injustice. He has done nothing wrong.
Tim Fleming, 69, a charity worker from Twickenham, said: It is important to come and support Tom because it could be me tomorrow. We wont be beaten.
Mr Crawford and his wife, 54, took out an endowment mortgage to buy the bungalow for £41,800 27 years ago. They expected to own the property outright when the loan came to an end last year.
We are all Tom Crawford... Look at these photos at link...

I hope this catches on, regular folks standing together and telling the banks "nope, not going to happen".

Otherwise, this is nothing but a temporary "victory" and nothing but a photo op for a lost cause.
The bankers on the phone with their henchmen knew that. They'll wait for another day, maybe next week.

The Stranger
(11,297 posts)7. For starters, yes.
But there have to be changes closer to home -- better means to challenge the banks' dispossession of regular people's homes.
