Oregon Was Founded As A Racist Utopia

When Oregon was granted statehood in 1859, it was the only state in the Union admitted with a constitution that forbade black people from living, working, or owning property there. It was illegal for black people even to move to the state until 1926. Oregon's founding is part of the forgotten history of racism in the American west.

99% of the local townspeople are not into this, so don't blame it on Oregonians, blame it
on the Bundy Terrorist Brigade, who descended upon Bend from the Bundy Ranch in Nevada,
who have already pulled a stunt like this before and were allowed to do it with no consequences
to speak of.

...to have a "sundown law" (no blacks after dark) well after Civil Rights legislation. Blacks in Portland lived in the Albina area in North Portland and you did not see them in the downtown area when I grew up there in the '40's and '50's. Madly racist city. Having a hard core racist mother, I have many sad stories to tell. The upside is, that it had a profoundly positive impact on me and I became committed to civil rights at an early age. I saw first hand how evil racism was.

Mostly the eastern and southern parts. I grew up (part of my life from age 11 until the time I was about 21) in a city that literally only had 2 AA and they were adopted by a white couple. I honestly consider Portland my hometown.
