Winter storm Prep and Handling (once it hits)

Line up:

Sleeping bags
blankets
sleeping pads or foam pads (to sleep on)
close off other rooms to keep one room heated
plastic and tape (one extra layer on windows)
shovels or e-tools
water
food
FUEL (light, cooking, and heat) remember running a kerosene, propane/butane, or coleman lantern/heater...open a window a little bit


a little late now to do the big prep

oil to put on water, plastic wrap to cover toilet in
bucket and cat litter or sawdust (kitty litter smells less) for improvised toilet

which you should definitely have if driving in a storm. Always prudent but in big storms it can be a matter of life or death...

just modifies a little to mode of transportation and area

for car i'd add map, compass, cellphone, charger (12v or better still crank)
radio (2 way) snow chains, and potentially a bag a tent and sleeping bag

then again 2 wheels in, 4 wheels out
and don't drive in snowstorms unless emergency (and a hot dog craving or work meeting isn't one)
