Seattle ranks highest per capita donations for Bernie Sanders
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/data/seattle-is-berning-nations-biggest-donors-per-capita/Which candidate are you supporting?
Itemized donations from Seattleites to Sanders totaled $596,578 through Jan. 31. That pencils out to a rate of $893 per 1,000 city residents, handily beating out No. 2 San Francisco and No. 3 Portland

The Chihuly glass is worth the visit. Great people, great Pike Place market.

(142 posts)... our own great "liberal" Congressman has come out strongly in support of Clinton, despite how Seattle is bound to caucus come Saturday. What a stab in the back of his very liberal constituency. Seattlites PLEASE contact our "Supers" to urge them to start representing already (and I don't mean BOEING!)
Here's what I just wrote to our retiring Congressman, hoping beyond hope ...
------------
Dear Jim McDermott -
When Bernie Sanders wins this Saturday's caucus, PLEASE reconsider your Superdelegate support for Hillary Clinton. It's the only fair thing to do. I've voted the straight Democrat ticket for decades now, and my 18 year old son will also vote Sanders this week. We don't understand WHY there's such an undemocratic system in place, where if 2/3rds of the state's voters vote Sanders, 100% of the Superdelegates still commit to Clinton. Very disrespectful towards the sanctity of an individual's vote, and helps explain why (if Bernie's not the nominee) Democratic turnout will likely be so very low this Fall. Downticket as well (and especially for those Superdelegates who refuse to represent their electorate).
Our entire family urges you to (post-caucus) DO THE RIGHT THING and convince our state's Superdelegates to start representing their constituents ... waste no time and switch your commitment to SANDERS. He is the most electable vs Trump, has by far the greatest grassroots support and enthusiasm, has great crossover Independent appeal, and will have fantastic downticket coattails in November. The Clintons have scandals, their interesting Foundation, and FBI investigations.
We're counting on you Rep McDermott! Particularly when the Seattle caucus results come in on Saturday. Please give your longtime Progressive supporters (who have been so loyal to you and the Progressive cause down through all these elections) one final going-away gift before you retire. My family has been so proud to have had you represent us in D.C. for all of these years. Please REPRESENT your Seattle constituency one last time, with perhaps your most important vote (since the Iraq War resolution). Be a STRONG LIBERAL LION ... that's why we've loved you all these many years!

Onward to Saturday's caucus! Before then though, may I also suggest to all fellow Bernie Washington State caucusers to send our Reps (Governor, Senators, Congressmen) an e-mail this week urging them that if WA goes big-time Bernie on Saturday, would they consider to like actually represent their constituents and switch their Superdelegate vote to Sanders already !? Y'know ... if they want our support this November, maybe start representing our wishes ... NOW ?!
It'll be pretty shameful if the voters of the state go BIG for Bernie this weekend, and yet ALL of our "Super"delegates continue to claim their vote is going to Hillary regardless. If they want my vote in the general, then they need to start reflecting what we voters are about to tell them on Saturday. As it stands now, they're basically saying their vote is more important than 10,000 of our lowly Washingtonians caususers. Jim McDermott's support of Hillary (despite what Seattle is about to say) is the saddest of them all. Hopefully, with our urging, he and a few more "Supers" will do the right thing within the week.
