It was once the world's sixth most popular tourist destination but visitor numbers to Turkey have slumped by around 40 percent amid security threats and a row with Moscow after a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey in 2015.

The country stands to lose billions of dollars in tourist revenue and there's little hope of a return to stability.

Turkey correspondent Mark Lowen reports from Antalya.

No apologies will help Turkey now. Erdogan seems to only know how to make a bad situation worse.
