The GOP will never find a plan it likes more than Obamacare and Republicans can never admit it

"That’s in part because Obamacare, in its basic structure, is the conservative plan for health care reform.

The most conservative approach of obtaining near-universal coverage is the one Obamacare adopted: private insurers coupled with government subsidies, mandates, and regulations.

Republicans are boxed in, and Obama knows it. Any conservative health reform alternative will be a step backward from Obamacare. As long as near-universal coverage is the metric of success, the GOP won’t be able to beat Obamacare at its own game."

Medicare for all would be cheaper, better than ACA. All NCjack Jan 2017 #5
Exactly. It relies on private insurers, private providers, subsidies are too low, etc. Hoyt Jan 2017 #6

They might choose to repeal it and replace it with Trumpcare, which will in no way differ from Obamacare, but the devotees won't even notice.

The one we used to have a hundred years ago. Sink or swim. Row your own boat. Weaklings to the wall (unless they are born rich, or course). Only the best for the rich. Everyone else: Don't get sick. If you do get sick, die quickly. And let your nine-year-old granddaughter do the heavy nursing duties, including horrifying cancer diaper duty. (Before anyone denies this last item, this is in fact exactly what my father's sister had to do at age nine for her dying grandmother, while her mother and aunt worked long exhausting hours just to pay the rent and buy food).
