Are people overlooking this in Comey asking DOJ to refute TRump Obama wiretap claim?

Haven't seen any discussion on this in DU Comey/Obama wiretop threads. DOJ might not be responding until someone replaces Sessions in Russia investigation. Don't know if Dana Boente can respond?

“One problem Mr. Comey has faced is that there are few senior politically appointed officials at the Justice Department who can make the decision to release a statement, the officials said. Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself on Thursday from all matters related to the federal investigation into connections between Mr. Trump, his associates and Russia."

1. Good point. There are some really thinning ranks.

God damn it. Hillary would have made one of the best presidents this country has ever had, and now we are faced with this absolute dishevelment.

2. Comey has overstepped his authority...

The DOJ is over the FBI, not the other way around. It's like the second in command insisting that the commander take a particular action, publicly.

He should have made the request in private, and fashioned his public statement accordingly.

He didn't take a couple of deep breaths and think about the best course of action before acting.

In the grand scheme of things, not that big a deal, but kind of a protocol violation.

3. As if he hasn't done this in the past!

What he did to Hillary with the emails was criminal.

I think he is trying to get the stink off himself. People know he is covered with it after that partisan pre-election announcement.

I will not forget what he and the other partisan repubbies have done. Any time they speak up, any time they run for reelection we need to remind people of what they did to Obama and Hillary. We need to remind everyone that they have enabled trump and put our country in jeopardy.

He put himself out there 'for the team' and is calling for back up, and they're leaving him hanging.

is anyone watching our backs? Are we safe? No one out to hurt us is going to come through normal borders checkpoints. I feel so vulnerable with this Terrible Triumvirate ruling us.
