'In a famous exchange between a high official at the court of George W. Bush

and journalist Ron Susskind, the official – later acknowledged to have been Karl Rove – takes the journalist to task for working in “the reality-based community.” He defined that as believing “that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.” Rove then asserted that this was no longer the way in which the world worked.

“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.” (Ron Suskind, NYTimes Magazine, Oct. 17, 2004).'

It has a strong odor of conspiracy theory and 9/11 denial.

My cats took that phrase to heart & made it their own. They have created their own reality, which I serve.

Rich, (mostly) white men have ruled for centuries & think they are superior to the rest of us. The arrogance of Rove's statement as our world burns & our seas rise is

Family friend, Texas woman from a well-connected Republican family. She's not rich by any stretch but lives to tell the story of walking into a restaurant and Neil bush recognizes *her*.

Anyway, we usually avoid politics but one time we couldn't help it. I got her to admit that republicans are massive liars so why continue to support them. She said well all politicians lie and...

"... I like the republican lies better."

I was stunned. She likes the lie that republicans are "fiscally responsible" so she supports them knowing that they'll pass a tax cut and not pay for it, not because she wants the tax cut, but because she wants them to keep talking about fiscal responsibility... even as they do the exact opposite.

So, yeah, that's what republicans are all about. Creating an illusion that their people find appealing even while they know it's an illusion.

for lies, dirty tricks, and scams. It an enormous false equivalency in both quantity and quality.
