Joe Kennedy hopes Mueller report turns up nothing (For 'sake of our democracy,' he says)

Rep. Joe Kennedy said he hopes for the sake of the country and the integrity of the US election process that special counsel Robert Mueller turns up nothing in his Russia investigation.

"It is probably too much to hope that what Mueller's report is actually going to say is, 'Nothing to see here, nobody did anything wrong, we got everyone already and case closed.' That's what I hope it says," the Massachusetts Democrat told Van Jones on "The Van Jones Show," airing Saturday on CNN at 7 p.m. ET.

Sources told CNN on Wednesday that Attorney General Bill Barr is preparing to announce the completion of Mueller's investigation as early as next week, with plans for Barr to submit to Congress a summary of Mueller's confidential report soon after.

Kennedy told Jones that he hopes Mueller does not conclude that the Trump campaign "engaged in nefarious activity" to "potentially elect a President that didn't actually earn every vote."

"And I hope that just did not happen. I hope that is not true," Kennedy said. "Because I don't want, for the sake of our democracy, for the sake of every single voter out there, whether you voted for Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton or somebody else, I want everyone to believe that process has the integrity we believe it should have."

Asked why he wouldn't want that conclusion for a partisan advantage, Kennedy said Trump has given Democrats "plenty to beat him up for in office. We don't need the rest of it."

especially related to Obstruction of Justice. AG Bill Barr must publish entire report instead of his own version in summary.

You left out that part of the headline.

It was a wistful plea, but he knows what's at stake. His Grandfather and his Grand-Uncles died for that same democracy.

May be he wants the report released sooner than later, so that congressional investigations can begin sooner. Time is flying by, and election 2020 is already in sight. Democratic primary action is moving ahead at fast pace.

including all of the underhanded tricks and worse done to win the 2016 election by fraud or worse. For our sake that nothing happened? Come on, give me a break. There already have been convictions, there are numerous investigations going on. Where are you hiding?

That's all we heard about, the fraud, the cheating, etc. nonstop since 2016 and it's time the American people have cleaned house and get rid of the scumbags who enabled this whole thing to happen and basically discount the value of all votes by American voters.

Don't give me this holier than thou speech that the American voting process is sacred and we need to be careful and damaging the voting process somehow. It's this very process we are undergoing with the Mueller investigation and all of the other investigations underway that ensures the integrity of our elections, and if we find something wrong, deal with it and move on, ensure that it doesn't happen again.

for the sake of our democracy. We must never let something like trump ever happen again. I respectfully disagree with everything Mr. Kennedy had to say in this matter. I can't believe he would think trump earned every vote. Has he not followed or read everything that has been disclosed so far.

I don’t know Joe Kennedy, but I assume he is a decent person. If he is also a reasonably smart person, he knows his wish isn’t going to come true. This is going to be really ugly and will damage our institutions and traditions in ways we can’t even imagine yet-not even considering the damage that has already been done.

Can't be any worse than the damage that rump is doing to our system today...constantly badmouthing the FBI and others, insulting our representatives in Congress who choose to stand up to him, arbitrarily grabbing money destined for other projects and repurposing for his own nefarious and bigoted projects (the 'wall'), and so forth.

That's why we need to go into the rabbit hole...to root out this cancer and ensures that it never ever happens again.

All while repairing the damage to the American brand.

This is why the Democrats get stepped on all the time by the Reich wing. If they can impeach Clinton for a bj we should be building gallows for the traitorous POS occupying the WH right now. Not hoping that nothing comes of the investigation. Thanks, Joe, for the single stupidest thing I've read this year. A quote the Reich wing noise machine will repeat over and over and over. Sheeesh....
