Nikki Haley's 'Groveling' Claim About Donald Trump Leaves People Bewildered

07/25/2020 03:01 am ET

The former U.N. ambassador’s spin on Trump’s decision to cancel part of the RNC because of the coronavirus raised more than a few eyebrows.

By Lee Moran

Nikki Haley attempted to rewrite the narrative on President Donald Trump’s decision to cancel the Jacksonville, Florida, element of the Republican National Convention in August over fears about the coronavirus.

And Twitter users weren’t buying it, accusing the former U.N. ambassador of “groveling” to the president.

Haley, also the former GOP governor of South Carolina who has been rumored as a potential replacement for Vice President Mike Pence on Trump’s 2020 ticket, tweeted Friday she was “proud of the selfless leadership” the president had shown in nixing the large-scale event that had been expected to attract tens of thousands of visitors.

Trump “has a great story to tell on how he turned out economy & foreign policy around,” Haley continued. “We look forward to sharing it in the next 100 days!”

Her parents were Pakistani. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but it’s the way the dotard is so racist about anybody who is skin isn’t lily white, and The Republicans embrace her.

In the same way that the Nazis glorified the master race and their physical fitness… And conveniently overlooked that Joseph Goebbels had a club foot.

As when she put out the statement about how of course she wasn't going to usurp the VP! She thought Pence was great!

Here, she's choosing words which are so obviously wrong, that have no connection to Trump and even his own voters know it ("selfless?" really?). Also "how he turned the economy and foreign policy around!" reminds most of us that he took a good economy and a collegial relationship with our allies into dumpster fires. And she says "100 days" and many people will think, oh, thank god, only 100 days till we can vote him out.

When I hear these quotes of hers, I hear that little dig. She's like Rubio with his sneaky little Bible verse tweets. "What do they really mean?"

She's hedging her bets. In the post-Trump future, she'll say, "Of course I supported my party. But I never liked that Trump guy."
