Opinion: How Republicans will try to destroy a Biden presidency
Kevin M. Kruse RetweetedThis is a huge tell. A GOP strategist tells Bloomberg that Senate Republicans don't want a big stimulus bill now because they want to pivot hard to austerity under a Biden presidency, which could cripple it. No wonder McConnell is laughing. New piece:

(52,209 posts)After they packed more a century's worry of lies and exaggerations into a mere 4 years, and after running up trillions in deficits as they looted the treasury, and after getting humiliated and rejected at the ballot box in November, they'll have *zero credibility* to complain about anything, certainly not the deficit or the economy.
They *never* talk about austerity when they're looting the treasury, and starting with November, voters will only ever want to say stfu to them.

(2,170 posts)If nothing else, the rethuglicans taught us that only pure power matters. End the filibuster, go big on a FDR type jobs creation, give Puerto Rico, America Samoa and D.C. statehood, put at least 4 justices on SCOTUS, put more judges on lower courts, get a gun registration and tax bullets to 25 times their price, fix the ACA. Screw the hate America rethuglicans.

Under Samoan law only indigenous people can own property. That would have to change under statehood.

(1,789 posts)If they had voted to remove an obviously guilty Trump, their election prospects wouldn't be so bad and they might have held on to the Senate and done all that austerity crap. Now, the wealthy will pay more taxes, big corporations will pay more taxes in the form of any at all, and spending and investing on the people's needs will happen. If they don't like it, they can make their little speeches on the Senate floor, then the bills will pass and they just get to sit there and not like it.
