Trumps' snub of Bidens historic in its magnitude
By Kate Bennett, CNN
Updated 4:07 PM ET, Mon January 18, 2021

(CNN) On the morning of January 20, Donald Trump and Melania Trump will depart the White House as President and first lady, but they will not invite their incoming counterparts, Joe and Jill Biden, inside before they do.

The dissolving of one of America's most enduring transfer-of-power rituals -- the outgoing president welcoming the incoming president on the steps of the North Portico, and then riding with them to the United States Capitol -- is just one of the snubs the Trumps are perpetrating as they leave Washington.

Instead of a president and first lady, the Bidens will be greeted by the White House chief usher Timothy Harleth, according to a source familiar with the day's events and planning. Harleth, a 2017 Trump hire from the Trump International Hotel in Washington, will likely not stay on in the Biden administration, the source said, noting the role of chief usher in all probability will be filled by someone more familiar with the incoming president and first lady.

The afternoon of Inauguration Day, then-President Biden will participate in a ceremonial wreath-laying at Arlington National Cemetery, joined by former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. It is during these hours the bulk of the Bidens' personal effects will be moved into the White House and unpacked, according to another source with knowledge of executive residence practices.

At least not the private floors. He was close to Obama, but not as close as Bobby was to JFK, who never had him upstairs at the residence in the nearly three years of his administration.

Last week news said Biden's will live at Blair House until the WH has been fully cleaned.
It will be cleaned more than normal for a new President. Every inch will be hand wiped & sanitized.
(& no doubt de-bugged of listening enemies, foreign & domestic)

And yes. Joe Biden spent 8 years in that place as Obama's VP, He knows it well. 🙂

It'll be like returning back home.

Hope Jill begins ripping out that concrete tennis court asap.

It sounds as if they'll be moving in right after Trump vacates. I know they plan a deep cleaning, but when will that happen?

A couple of days ago there was a video of Trump's staff carting "souvenirs" from the WH to a waiting moving van. These included a bronze bust of Abraham Lincoln and several pieces of art. A grifter to the end.

“Questions abounded Thursday after a trio of unidentified masked officials walked a bronze bust of President Abraham Lincoln outside the front door of the West Wing. To whom did it belong? And where, precisely, was it off to?
Items such as the Lincoln sculpture were on loan from the official White House collection and part of a documented process wherein thousands of pieces of art, decorative art, sculpture, china, silver and other items are historically preserved.
These items are available for the incoming president and first lady to select at the start of a new term, as the Trumps did in 2017.”

Given the custodial nature of the White House, I suspect that almost every object of significance there has some kind of tracking dot, especially given that items typically move in and out of storage regularly.

Having these buffoons as far away as possible.

Boy, Fat Loserman, you sure are a bad sport! Bwahahahahhahaha

Brush up on the Constitution, Big Boy. I'd be reading the Fifth Amendment VERY carefully. Maybe you can do that on your plane ride out of DC to exile and a lifetime of criminal investigations and trials, along with civil lawsuits. I can't think of a finer and more fitting tribute to you and all you've done.

For me, there has never been an inauguration like this one. The fact that the most recent ex-president will not be in attendance is very fitting.
