Looking for Sci-Fi novels set in Asia.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by tkmorris (a host of the Editorials & Other Articles forum).

I am looking for good science fiction novels set in Asia. I have already read River of the Gods (India), Wind Up Girl (Thailand) and am currently reading IQ84 (Japan). Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks.

The Years of Salt and Rice by Kim Stanley Robinson was one I enjoyed.

It's sort of alternative history. The black plague essentially wipes out Europe, so history and progress falls to Asia. The discovery of the America's arrives at the west coast, rather than across the Atlantic. etc.

eta - it also deals kind of heavily with Buddhist thought and reincarnation, so it may not be what you're looking for. Some of the characters cycle through and you get to see them in various incarnations.

It really is a fantastic if somewhat overlooked book. Unfortunately, having said that, I have to lock this thread as this forum is intended for posting links to good reads, not inquiring where one might find them. This probably would be a better fit in the Lounge or Reading and Writing forum. Good luck!
