Trump asks Florida judge to force Twitter to restart his account
https://www.reuters.com/technology/trump-asks-florida-judge-force-twitter-restart-his-account-bloomberg-news-2021-10-02/Former U.S. President Donald Trump asked a federal judge in Florida on Friday to ask Twitter to restore his account, which the company removed in January citing a risk of incitement of violence.
Trump filed a request for preliminary injunction against Twitter in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, arguing the social media company was "coerced" by members of the U.S. Congress to suspend his account.
Twitter and several other social media platforms banned Trump from their services after a mob of his supporters attacked the U.S. Capitol in a deadly riot on Jan. 6.
That assault followed a speech by Trump in which he reiterated false claims that his election loss in November was because of widespread fraud, an assertion rejected by multiple courts and state election officials.
Twitter "exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate," Trump's lawyers said in the filing. The filing was reported earlier by Bloomberg.
Twitter declined to comment on the filing when contacted by Reuters.

(21,447 posts)gear up for the midterms, and promote himself and his lies for 2024. Most likely also wants to push for open rebellion against state and federal governments.
Trouble is, Florida might give him what he wants.
If his account is reactivated, Twitter should have a couple people on their staff whose sole job is to monitor his tweets and IMMEDIATELY, within seconds, delete any disinformation about covid, about elections being stolen, about white supremacy, or having any hint of calling for mass action against elected officials. But I would not trust Twitter to be that vigilant.
Better to keep the traitor silenced. He would use lies on Twitter to undermine any charges or convictions against him, his business, his family, or his insurrectionist allies. In fact, he must be feeling very nervous about investigations and their progress to be demanding a Twitter forum for his self-defense.
It's not like he just said a few inappropriate things. He sponsored an effin' attack on the US government.

(97 posts)Am I correct is saying that a company can refuse service or cut service if one does not follow their code of service, ethics or not follow rules set by the company? If so, then Twitter should not have to reopen Trumps account.
