A single sentence that perfectly captures the utter madness of the Trump era
In an interview with Donald Trump earlier this week, conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt said something truly breathtaking.
"You know, Mr. President, you and I disagree about the election, but we agree on so much," Hewitt told Trump, segueing into a conversation about China's hypersonic missiles.
Talk about an other-than-that-how-was-the-play-Mrs. Lincoln moment!
That Hewitt uttered that line without irony is a telling window into how conservatives have found ways to rationalize Trump and his fundamentally anti-democratic attempts to undermine the faith of the American public in the 2020 election results.
-snip-
Hewitt's attempt to dismiss his disagreement with Trump over the election then as just another policy disagreement is laughable. This isn't Hewitt saying we should have stayed in Afghanistan and Trump saying we should have pulled American troops out. This is the former President of the United States refusing to accept the results of a national election.

If it takes demonstrations on the street in front of media stations or newspaper offices, we need to push back hard in order to take back the narrative.
It's up to us to arouse and motivate people to see what is happening.

MLK, John Lewis, Rosa Parks, and many others didn't. This is still the country that elected Obama twice and VP Harris at least once. Let's make sure it's more than once.
The idea is to fight back against the media for their lack of coverage of Biden's accomplishments and what they mean for ALL the people. Fight the media's chronic negative coverage of Biden and show that it is due to media loyalty to corporations over people. Even racists have financial problems now due to covid. Get their little minds off of racial hatred and engaged in financial well being for everyone.
Carry signs with factual info bytes about Biden's and the Dem Congress' focus on prosperity for the working and middle classes.
If we don't do our part to change the national messaging, how can any of us criticize Garland or Congress? We the people ARE the Democratic party. We the people ARE the government. It's our future that is at stake. We can't afford to sit silently and watch it fail.

Make it positive, upbeat, and persistent.

So far these two groups have rejected or ignored reasonable messaging.
And our attempts to get them to face reality.

Trying to change someone's opinion is often a tricky business.
Especially with deeply ingrained beliefs.
Complicated and difficult unless you know what you are doing.
I am just suggesting we don't keep doing what we have been doing that doesn't work.
But get some good advice from clinical and social psychologists to help us with a monumental task.

I am not interested in "reaching out" to the seriously deluded. That is the role of intensive therapy - if they admit to needing it. Politically, I believe that we need to lead with strong messaging that arouses positive feelings about what we can do and are doing for the people. I do not want to reach out to their imaginary reality. It is not possible or productive to reason with them.
I think we need to show, not tell. Just present ourselves, strongly, as we really are in contrast to what they have heard. Don't tell them what reality is, or get bogged down discussing it with them. Just show them by rallying people who are already with us and attracting those capable of joining us.
