This is my kind of pastor

These people get it. There are plenty of pastors and churches out there exactly like this and I am glad to see them stand up and do something. A sit in at Senator Manchin's office, what a great idea! They need to move on down the line to Senator Sinema's office later on.

He added: “You are an abuser. You’re full of sin. We’ve come to help you get free — but if you don’t want to get free you’re going to get your foot the hell off our necks.”

I don’t mind religious people in politics, using their religion to inform their policies…it’s when religion becomes the policies that I have a problem with.
When the “point” becomes religion (let’s face it: money) rather than helping people.

4. They're not trying to impose a state religion. Whether one is an atheist, Baptist, Muslim, whatever,

there is an element to the human condition shared by all, soul. Soul values... kindness, compassion, generosity among others...oppose brain/ego values which elevate materialism, greed, violence, inequality. You can find atheists who are full of empathy and Baptists who concentrate on the physical virtues of not smoking or drinking. Soul values transcend religion in most cases. When religious people advocate for soul values, they're not advocating for a religion, but for the human condition which includes soul.

But you're right. Anything good can be manipulated.

5. There are two separate aspects to Christianity

There is faith, which is inward, spiritual, involves conversion and personal conscience, and there is practice, which takes the foundational principles and acts on them. Practice involves ministry to the world around you, living according to values, in one place listed as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self control. That's influence, not imposition. These people aren't trying to use government to accomplish their mission and purpose, like many of those who compromise their faith to follow Trump with tissues and toilet paper. They are influencing government to do what it is supposed to be doing for the people.

6. Well said! Jesus said that faith must be demonstrated by following his teachings. Christianity

many, many centuries ago tossed that out and made faith alone the critical factor. A good Christian could follow the dictates of a pope who lived like a sultan, ordered crusades, stifled knowledge... and all would be forgiven via faith. The claim of faith entitled one to be accepted as a Christian, not one's lifestyle or behavior. Thanks, Constantine.
