These facts bother me. Do they bother you?

Does it bother you that a very small percent of the top 1% of our population owns 40% of the wealth? It bothers me. Does it bother you that the military industrial complex is in business partly to sell weapons of war to foreign countries, weapons that could one day be used against us? It bothers me. Does it bother you that 50% of our taxes go to finance the military, when many of these weapons will never be used by us and the money could be put to much better use? It bothers me. Does it bother you that the Senate of the United States so often votes against House-sponsored bills that are in the best interests of the average American? It bothers me very much.
Does it bother you that the Republicans in the Senate vote as a block instead of for whats best for the American people? It bothers me. Does it bother you that so many members of the Republican Party favor an ex-president who wants to create an autocracy with himself as the head of state? It bothers me.
Does it bother you that our current president hasnt found a way to make COVID-19 vaccines mandatory rather than allowing each person to decide for himself or herself, when to do so means many thousands more will suffer or die, and that, at the very least, the pandemic may be prolonged?

(9,954 posts)... all of that bothers me except for the last item. We can make the vaccines mandatory through work and school - but not for everyone. We can't go door-to-door, break into homes, and give every person a "mandatory" shot. We depend on people being smart and patriotic enough to follow basic guidelines... sadly, the Trumpsters and anti-vaxers are not participating. And, they are enough to keep super-viruses mutating and alive.

(10,188 posts)I feel like the US is standing on the edge of a cliff. Its all been moving this way for awhile but between TFG and Covid, a lot seems to be coming to a head. Im older and retired, I figure Ill probably survive, but I worry for my son and the younger folks. Not so sure theyll manage to come thru all of this. At least with some sort of positive outcomes.

(7,153 posts)Not about the overall budget, which traditionally was driven by SS/Medicare/Medicaid as "mandatory spending", exaggerated recently by stimulus checks and other aid to taxpayers and businesses during the pandemic.

(3,850 posts)and while you're at it, go help with voter registration.
I would be I00% in favor of a vaccination mandate but President Biden would have to pack the Supreme Court first. That's the fault of the court and of Democrats who stayed home in mid-term elections since 20I0.
