No such thing as woke or the Left.

Conservatives love to label their opponents with negative labels. How do we retort? By rebranding the negative with a positive name.
One of worst labels is "The left". What does that do is generalize the so-called left. What does this mean? It means Stalin and Mao are the same as Robert F Kenndy Of MLK. So, the next time a conservative call you a leftist, you reply...Wrong! I am an Anti-Authoritarian leftist. Click on the link below and I will explain in detail.

I wear them with a badge of pride. I simply say that communism is dead, the left means for the little people.

I sure as hell don't mind being called woke as compared with asleep, knowledgeable vs ignorant.

I accept both titles and defend them.

The next thing people are going to ask is if we can come up with another name other than Democrat, because that's the real name that Magats hate.

Prominent, empirical evidence shows that 'in-groups' gain strength by owning whatever pejorative is hurled at them. Just run through the history of numeric minorities adopting and reinterpreting the meaning of whatever label is applied to them. You can come up with many, many instances of social/political groups who respond with, "Yes, that's who I am and I'm proud of it."

Groups that change their names whenever sh*t gets real just fade away.

If you can't think of any of the many, many instances of groups succeeding and reaching their goals by incorporating a disparaging name into their social identity in the US, I'll come back and dish a few.

Remember when some Democrats were telling us not to use that term, to call it the Affordable Care Act?

stripped of its negative implications rather completely.

'Black' was adopted with pride as an in-group name over 'Negro' and worse.

'The Left' doesn't feel like a pejorative to me from my vantage point as an in-group member. I call myself a 'lefty" or a progressive, harkening back to the Progressive Era, and laugh to high heaven at anyone who would attempt to use 'The Left' as a smear.

Should we stop openly favoring 'democracy' because the monster Trump was elected president? No. We should not.

Don't you worry about how folks 'On the Right' describe themselves as conservatives? Many parts of the media refer to American fascists and racists as 'conservatives'. They are not. The media also tends to describe congressional Democrats as conservatives when they don't vote to support progressive legislation. I suspect that more often than not not these so-called conservatives are better described as 'corporatists' doing their paymaster's bidding, protecting coal, protecting banks, protecting pollution and the like.

When wingers anoint themselves 'conservative,' I have been known to correct them by suggesting that they are more fascistic than conservative.

Of course, Stalin was a monster and MLK a saint. Hannah Arendt understood Stalin as a totalitarian.

The democratic party is a big tent coalition among many groups and individuals. We need as many folks as we can get to vote for the party's positions and candidates.
