Opinion: Trump's new admission about Jan. 6 should boost pressure on Garland

TFG keeps on making admissions that would drive any first rate attorney nuts which is why TFG has been relegated to using shopping center lawyers. Hint-if a lawyers office is in a shopping center, they are NOT a top rated lawyer. TFG just admitted to the Washington Post that he talked to McCarthy, Gym Jordan and others on Jan. 6 (despite a lack of phone logs concerning these calls). These statements are admissions that AG Garland can use

Confessing to illegal conduct does not make such conduct legal

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/04/07/trump-interview-jan-6-pressure-garland/

A central feature of Trump’s corruption is that he sometimes confesses to it in public. In this circular wizardry, Trump’s conduct can’t possibly be corrupt if he’s so eager to cop to it openly.

Here Trump appears to blithely confirm he spoke to lawmakers during the insurrection, and suggests there was nothing wrong with those calls. Presto! All wrongdoing goes poof!.....

“The key is to understand Trump’s communications about whether he intended to disrupt the electoral count through the weaponization of the rioters,” NYU law professor Ryan Goodman, who has deeply researched the insurrection’s timeline, told me.

“It’s important to know whether Trump made statements pressuring members of Congress to delay certification while the violence was going on,” Goodman said. “It could satisfy a key element of the criminal statute, which requires prosecutors to prove he was corruptly motivated in his actions.”

If TFG has engaged a criminal defense attorney, that attorney would not be happy with the Washington Post interview

Betting odds are that the fix is in, and has been from the start. They are just keeping us occupied until we grow tired of the revelations followed by disappointment, over and over, and then when the whole thing just disappears into the night and fog, we will whine a little and then the corruption can continue unabated. Justice is to be redefined as the protection of the powerful from the weak.

If Garland continues to ignore his duty, this embolden Trump and those who wish to destroy our government.

Biden will also bear blame for not replacing Garland.

Republicans have laid the groundwork to reinstall Trump or someone even worse.

investigate”???? WTF! The investigation should be wrapping up, not frigging gearing up. If the NYT can’t confirm an investigation, there’s pretty darned good reason to be concerned that there isn’t and hasn’t been much of one thus far. Moving up the food chain of prosecution is one thing, but showing no signs of an investigation into TFG is a whole other — and it isn’t a good thing.

Be patient, be damned.

Maybe one major reason why we haven't seen much action out of the DOJ yet is that there are current members of both the Senate and House that are also key targets of the probe.

Criminal conspiracy indictments against members of Congress would be extraordinary and explosive charges, therefore the serious need for extreme secrecy.

I think we'll hear by this summer before the upcoming election cycle if so.
