Graham duplicity is an example of how the GOP has become a "political cult"
https://signalpress.blogspot.com/2022/04/graham-duplicity-example-of-how-gop-has.htmlHere's Lindsey Graham in 2015 quoted in the Huffington Post: (From Valerie Biden Owen's new book, Growing Up Biden
"The bottom line is if you don't admire Joe Biden as a person, you have a problem. You need to do some self-evaluation. He is as good a man as God ever created."
And in the same year, in an interview with CNN:
"He [Donald Trump] doesn't represent my party, he doesn't represent the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for."
But of course, Graham is capable of remarkable duplicity when he thinks he needs to score political points. Valerie Biden Owens points to these Graham quotes in her new book Growing Up Biden" and says, "This is inconcievable to me."
It is to me, too.

(3,891 posts)loyal to the Christian gospel. They have made political views a test of orthodoxy, which is not only something the apostles who wrote the New Testament warned the church about doing on more than one occasion, but is a violation of conscience, in that it skews everything involved in the practice of Christian faith. And this has crept into the preaching and teaching and the culture of many churches. Most Christians accept what is preached and taught by their leaders, especially if their political views are conservative, and they're used to having Bible verses twisted out of context, mis-applied and blending conservative politics with their church culture. Southern Baptists, especially those in the southern states, have always had an "us vs. them" mentality when it comes to their church culture, and see all other cultural, social and political institutions as being "against them." That includes the public education system, government entities, and any politician that isn't a hard liner on the right.
But if this country's spirituality is deteriorating and there's this dark cloud of worldiness hanging over us, getting worse by the minute, and you claim to believe the Bible, then government isn't the answer to the problem anyway, and choosing a leader who comes directly from the muck of worldliness, and brags about it, is also not the answer.
