Al Gore delivers optimistic climate change message in ASU virtual talk

(snip)

Former vice president Al Gore, the keynote speaker at the event, said political failures have allowed fossil fuel companies to capture the policy-making process.

But he said the technology exists to combat rising temperatures. That’s because solar and wind companies have operated efficiently, with a sense of urgency that has revolutionized renewable energy.

“This global, sustainability revolution has the scale of the Industrial Revolution, coupled with the speed of the digital revolution.”

He says that in five years wind and solar will become the cheapest forms of energy for virtually the entire world.

People can lie to themselves and to others, but real numbers don't lie. While we all wait for the wind and solar miracle that did not come, is not here, and won't come, the rate of degradation of the planetary atmosphere is accelerating.

We have large nations like Germany phasing out nuclear power to burn coal.

It is mythology that's killing the planet, not that the technology doesn't exist. The problem is people hate technologies vital to survival. The antinuclear movement is directly analogous to the antivax movement, restrained and mythologized by people incompetent to understand the technology and willing to hate it out of rote ignorance.
