The Executive Branch -- with input from CDC and any other agency or person -- ought to have that authority.

Besides, CDC has not been particulary stellar in its COVID performance. Screwed up policies on masks early on, and royally screwed up testing. I'm sure trump is partly responsible. But, CDC should not have authority to issue mandates.

As a practical matter, a Prez could replace the Agency head, but seems to me the judge ruled CDC does not have authority to issue a mandate. I agree with that.

I support mask mandates, although not sure it is absolutely necessary at this point.

In 2000, the HHS Secretary transferred the FDA’s interstate quarantine authority over persons to the CDC, consolidating all quarantine authority—foreign and interstate—over persons to the CDC. The CDC and the FDA retain concurrent regulatory authority over animals and other products that may transmit or spread communicable diseases, with the CDC exercising foreign quarantine authority and the FDA exercising interstate quarantine authority.

Germs don't care. Viruses don't care. They don't stop spreading, maiming, killing because a judge or lawmaker or Joe Blow said something like Covid-19 is over.

The people who are anti-mask, anti-vaccinination are full of crap.
