FOX26 viewer reports mail, including ballots left in Fresno field

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fox26-viewer-reports-mail-including-ballots-left-in-fresno-field/ar-AA13cK7A

A concerned FOX26 viewer reported some mail, including multiple voting ballots left in a field in West Fresno.

According to the viewer, several mailboxes have been recently broken into. The mail found could possibly be what was taken from the mailboxes near Ashlan and Polk Avenues.

A Fresno resident reported mail that was left in a field.
The viewer reported the incident to the Fresno Police Department, they advised her to drop them off with a local carrier or USPS.

While there, our FOX26 photojournalist collected the mail and hand it over to a mail carrier, including all 11 ballots left behind.

The POLICE tell the person who found this stuff - US Mail - to just gather it up and take it to some postal outlet or some carrier?

Should have been feds on the scene ASAP including the USPS police!

Sounds fishy to me.

And there may not be any Postal Inspectors in the area. Someone here at DU posted a report recently about drastic cuts to the number of Inspectors out there.

So, yes, if they don't have a postal inspector in the area, then the cops might not have called any feds to the scene.

As it is, the cops should have taken the mail into custody and delivered it to a post office themselves rather than leaving it to a citizen. That's unprofessional.

I struggled for the term and I was in kind of a hurry.

It was beyond unprofessional of the LEO to not take custody of that stuff.
