U.S. general warns troops that war with China is possible in two years
Gen. Michael A. Minihan, who oversees the Air Forces fleet of transport and refueling aircraft, cited the 2024 presidential elections in Taiwan and the United States as part of his rationaleChina could be at war with the United States two years from now, a top Air Force general predicted in a bombastic and unusual memo to troops under his command, asserting a shorter timeline before potential conflict than other senior U.S. defense officials.
Gen. Michael A. Minihan, who as head of Air Mobility Command oversees the services fleet of transport and refueling aircraft, warned personnel to speed their preparations for a potential conflict, citing Chinese President Xi Jinpings aspirations and the possibility that Americans will not be paying attention until it is too late.
I hope I am wrong, Minihan wrote. My gut tells me we will fight in 2025. Xi secured his third term and set his war council in October 2022. Taiwans presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a reason. United States presidential elections are in 2024 and will offer Xi a distracted America. Xis team, reason, and opportunity are all aligned for 2025.
Minihan then directs airmen who are qualified to use a weapon to fire a clip into a 7-meter target with the full understanding that unrepentant lethality matters most sometime in February.
Aim for the head, he said.

Lethality matters most, he added, according to Task & Purpose, a military publication. When you can kill your enemy, every part of your life is better. Your food tastes better. Your marriage is stronger.

(17,757 posts)I wonder how many transport and fueling crews he thinks would come within seven yards of a Chinese trooper? The Peter Principle is alive and well in the US military. Saber rattling idiots like that do not need to be in charge of troops and they don't need a microphone to the world.

(367 posts)Members of the military who can be sent to a war zone at any time need to be able to not only fire a weapon but also take care of it. My preference has always been the M-14. I can still picture in my mind breaking one down, cleaning it, and assembling it and I was never in a combat zone.
