OTM: The Supreme Court is in Crisis. Here's How the Press Should Cover It.

The Supreme Court’s approval ratings have plunged to historic lows since last year. And ProPublica’s bombshell reporting on Justice Clarence Thomas’ failure to disclose gifts from billionaire Harlan Crow is unlikely to earn back the public's faith in our highest court. Last week, Slate published a series of articles addressing this "Disorder in the Court," and in the legal press corps. This week, Brooke speaks to Slate's Dahlia Lithwick about the seismic change she's witnessed at the Supreme Court—from the increasing use of the "shadow docket," to false facts becoming part of the law—and why media should cover the court as if it were Congress.

at one time, was the only institution not ruined or tainted by political interference, and then to come and find out that it was tainted. A huge stain on the US governing agencies, being Congress, the Executive Branch, and now the Courts. A huge disappointment. I used to actually have respect at least for the Courts, being that the republicans were doing everything they could to call democrats names, traitors, etc. when our only crime was just being Americans w/ a different viewpoint. That's it.

Now, I know that the Supreme Court isn't truly representing the majority of Americans, as they have proven it.

Scumbags. Ruined one institution that I thought was above this crap. Almost everyone of them should be ashamed of themselves.

They don’t respect stare decisis so their decisions don’t need to be respected. We just need to turf them out.
