Trump doesn't have enough clout on Capitol Hill to make Jim Jordan the House speaker
-snip-
The race to succeed former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is on, and Rep. Jim Jordan just scored what may be the best outside endorsement a Republican could get former President Donald Trump.
But that won't be enough for the Ohio congressman to lock up his party's nomination for the top job.
Jordan faces stiff competition from current House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and other candidates including Rep. Kevin Hern of Oklahoma could still throw their hat in ahead of next Wednesday's vote.

(37,077 posts)Get elected Speaker, then republicans can blame the democrats for them losing the speakership. Trump promises Gaetz an ambassadorship in Tahiti and Jordan will become athletic director at Trump U. Boebert will retire and become an usher in an adult theater in Arizona. Are there still adult theatres? Oh I could go on but I will spare the good folks on DU. Okay just one more. Tuberville will be trumps SECDEF.

Or there could be a half dozen R's not vote? That would work as well.
