The race to succeed former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is on, and Rep. Jim Jordan just scored what may be the best outside endorsement a Republican could get — former President Donald Trump.

But that won't be enough for the Ohio congressman to lock up his party's nomination for the top job.

Jordan faces stiff competition from current House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, and other candidates — including Rep. Kevin Hern of Oklahoma — could still throw their hat in ahead of next Wednesday's vote.
