but today was the first "proper" use of the filibuster I've seen in years. The President should NOT have the power to execute ANYONE without a trial.

It is simply unconstitutional. Period.

for at least the past 50 years. JFK, RFK, MLK, Paul Wellstone etc.

Yeah, I stole this from a comment over at Common Dreams, but it's nonetheless true, IMO.

And not mentioned by the commenter, but I'd add, 3000 innocents on 9/11.

I guess it's just same sh*t, different day. Now they don't even try to hide it.

Those earlier killings were treated as crimes.

Maybe inside jobs, but no one came out on television and said, "Well, we thought Kennedy was a threat so we took him out."

And what would have been the reaction if someone had?

Law Enforcement falls under the Executive Branch & police kill multiple Americans everyday without a trial...Unless you are for disarming all of Law Enforcement then I am not sure you have a point. Sometimes in the course of law enforcement Americans are killed to protect police & the public...This is no different.

Eric holder's answer was exactly the right answer.

I am more than willing to listen to the fact we need oversight, WE DO, on all law enforcement but to say one part of the Executive does not have the legal authority to kill Americans in the course of their duties enforcing the law & protecting the public is absurd at best.
