Rise of the Proto-Fascists

Published on May 26, 2013

Short remix of 'Obey' documentary with excerpts from book - Death of the Liberal Class - written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Chris Hedges.

Interesting to see how many of these predictions have become true and this in itself hints that these fascists groups have been manipulated by concentrated economic power to fight manufactured enemy. Both fascists and their enemy are ultimately victims of the political and economic elite - the Corporate Class.

"Until industrial feudalism is replaced by industrial democracy, politics will be the shadow cast on society by big business" - John Dewey

type of presentation is that it easily leads one to despair and to believe resistance is futile, and defeat inevitable. The only reason this nightmare scenario is even possible is because most of us are comfortable and deluded enough to think we have something to lose, when we really have nothing to lose but life, which we lose anyway, in the end.

Remember this?:

"2003 Incident with Chris Hedges and the Iraq War ---

Chris Hedges, an outspoken critic of Israel's treatment of the Palestinians, was also an early and vocal critic of the Iraq War. He questioned the rationale for war by the Bush administration and was critical of the early press coverage, calling it "shameful cheerleading". In May 2003, Hedges delivered a commencement address at Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois, saying:

'We are embarking on an occupation that, if history is any guide, will be as damaging to our souls as it will be to our prestige and power and security.'

Several hundred members of the audience booed and jeered his talk, although some applauded. Hedges' microphone was cut twice and two young men rushed the stage to try to prevent him from speaking. Hedges had to cut short his address and was escorted off campus by security officials before the ceremony was over."

[Cit from Wikipedia]

This was a case of the Deltas revolting when denied their soma. The audience erupted in boos -- a few applauded, but couldn't be heard over the idiot din of the boo-ers. Chris brought truth and honesty and was attacked -- and would have been beaten if not for security personnel protecting him from the attack. This event marked, for me, the beginning of the end of America.

Is the end inevitable? We'll see. But the corporate fascists control the Supreme Court, the House of Representatives, a good portion of the Democratic Party, and seem to have the ear -- if not of the President, himself, then of many of his key advisors. Thus the war continues, the use of drones expands, the surveillance of citizens in the name of "stopping leaks" grows amain. All the while, income shrinks, unemployment stagnates, education wallows, young people leave college with crushing debts.

It's going to be extremely hard to turn the ship of state around, with or without violence. Not impossible, but hard. 2014 may be the last chance, or very close to the last chance.
