misleading and false premises in this video. First and foremost is the highly edited attack helicopter video. What they left out of the video is quite necessary to put it in context. Second is the fact that Manning *did* release the identities of open and covert foreign and military sources when he leaked the classified documents. And finally, Manning had the opportunity to report any war crimes he knew about to either the Army IG or Congress; an act that would have classified him as a whistle blower, and wouldn't have ended with UCMJ action. He did neither.

In essence, he has no one to blame but himself.

Authoritarianism is the worship of big brother that will take care of you. Maybe trickle down on you. Our bully government kills tens of thousands of innocent children and you worry that Manning exposed and embarrasses someone. Do you understand what democracy is? It sure isnt throwing whistle-blowers in prison and letting war criminals walk free. But authoritarians love their bullies. They love Cheney and hate Manning.

I am confused as to why you post on a blog for "politically liberal" people. Do you consider yourself "politically liberal"?

7. One trick pony. You blathered on about this in another thread toward several posters.

That's what I find fascinating; you never really argue any point, just accuse others of being in lockstep with Cheney, Hannity, and other RW types. Never mind that Manning broke the law and that about half of DU agrees with my opinion. So, by your standard, are we *all* not politically liberal?

One last time, since you *don't* seem to understand what's been written many times and in many threads. Manning *could* have been considered a whistle blower under federal law if he had done one of two things. 1. Contacted the Army IG and reported any war crimes he had witnessed or knew about. 2. Contacted Congress with the information and requested an investigation. Instead, he chose to release the documents to a foreign entity (Assange) in direct violation of the whistle blower act, Army regulations, and federal law. That you continue to blow past these facts is not my problem.

8. Yes I blow by those facts because it really means that he didnt follow the system. That's the point

the system is rigged. Rigged to hide the truth, rigged to keep those that want to reveal the truth quiet. I believe in law and order, but I also believe that it should be equally enforced. When I see the 1% Ruling Elite not being held accountable for heinous crimes, I have a hard time rationalizing that we should punish those that are trying to expose the Emperor without clothes.

In my opinion, those that are so very adamant for Manning and other whistle-blowers to be punished and punished severely, is because they are comfortable with the authoritarian power structure. Whistle-blowers and protestors dare to challenge this structure. This is the conservative mind-frame. They can forgive the misdeeds of the leader authoritarians but not the misdeeds of those that dare to try to reveal that their Emperor has no clothes.

The conservatives want Manning to spend life in prison because that's the most severe punishment society will allow. They long for the days they could get a rope and really teach him a lesson.

I recommend the book, The Authoritarians free here: http://members.shaw.ca/jeanaltemeyer/drbob/TheAuthoritarians.pdf

or Denis Kusinich, I guarantee an investigation would have ensued. It would also have offered him Whistle blower status.

Here's some reading for you as well since you don't seem to understand the concept.

Military Whistleblower Protection Act. Public Laws 100-456, 102-190, and 103-337 (codified in Title 10, United States Code, Section 1034 (10 U.S.C. 1034) and implemented by DoD Directive 7050.6, “Military Whistleblower Protection,” June 23, 2000) provide protections to members of the Armed Forces who make or prepare to make a lawful communication to a Member of Congress, an Inspector General, or any member of a DoD audit, inspection, investigative or law enforcement organization, and any other person or organization (including any person or organization in the chain of command) designated under Component regulations or other established administrative procedures for such communications concerning a violation of law or regulation, gross mismanagement, a gross waste of funds, an abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific danger to public safety.

5. that is why Manning leaked the videos

that is why the Geneva Conventions says that soldiers should report war crimes.

It protects the soldiers as well as the innocent victims.

It is why so many Veterans support Bradley Manning. There are Vets for Peace members, Iraq and Afghanistan War vets, and many other Veterans at the trial and going to rallies all over this country this week. Just check out the photos and you will see Veterans.

10. we gather in support of Bradley Manning today in front of the Fed Courthouse in Minneapolis

We had over 50 people in front of the Federal Courthouse in downtown Minneapolis. At least 1/3 of the people here were Veterans. Lots of signs, and several people had whistles. We took one by one photos of "I am Bradley Manning" and i hope the women who took them can make a video linking them together. There were some new people who were just walking by and once they were informed of Bradley manning they wanted their picture taken also.
