(34,582 posts)and our constitutional scholar president fearlessly renewed the Patriot Act. It makes me sick.
Further proof that Republicans are LIARS.
They are in favor of BIG INTRUSIVE government and CURTAILING civil liberties and rights.
They do not care anything about the Constitution, the citizens of this country, or the ideals of this country.
Republicans are the ANTI AMERICAN Party of LIARS !!!!!
President Obama is following in their footsteps.
He is guilty in his deeds and actions.
Both parties are nothing more than con men and women out to fill their pockets and to attain power.
The government of the U.S. is a sickening cesspool of corrupt thieves and liars.
We the people have no voice or power.
They have stolen our rights and sold our country out from under us.
Long live the United States of Corporations and the MIC.
May the United States of America rest in peace.

(90 posts)Senators Reid AND Finestein both agree with Senator Graham, they said so today on TV.
Can't freaking trust NOBODY. Can't wait to find out how many NC senators knew about this.

(5,279 posts)Get a grassroots movement going, get everybody angry at this to randomly dial 5 people a day and say bomb, bomb, bomb. 3,000,000 people x 5 a day +trigger words as a protest.
If nothing else helps out unemployment as NSA picks up people to cover the extra 5,475,000,000 calls a year.

(4,522 posts)I wish people would stop saying it's a 'privacy issue'. While it is very true, the framing weakens (IMHO) the issue.
It's about POWER. Balance of power. This is about having POWER over you, me, everyone. It should PISS PEOPLE OFF and they should see it as someone holding you under their thumb.
Information is power, they have it, you don't. They have secrecy (ie privacy), you don't. They have info to do whatever they want with and you have no control over that.
We are under a massive terrorist attack from the Right with one purpose on their minds,,,,, total collapse of our government,,,, I for one am glad the government is keeping a sharp eye on these tea baggers and such!
how is the government checking to see if your phone number has called or been called by known terrorist phone number, an invasion of your privacy ... oh please
SouthernLiberal
(407 posts)If a 'known' terrorist phone number is involved, the government could tell who is calling them and who they are calling by collecting the phone records for that number. And they could probably even get a warrant.
So that is not likely to be what they are looking for. I really cannot think of how they could possibly get information out of millions of phone records unless they knew what they were looking for. If they did know, they wouldn't need the millions of phone records. So I suspect that what they really look for are patterns. Not that you called a terrorist, but that you use your phone in a similar way as someone who called a terrorist. Never mind that you only called friends and family, honest Americans all. You showed a terrorist-like pattern of calling.
