already and if the Democrats don't adopt it others will. There are many people on DU who tremble in fear daily that libertarians will be able to peel off voters using marijuana issues, which I think is pretty daft because libertarians are actually just Republicans with press agents and only homophobic racist conservatives would get 'peeled off' and they are not Democratic voters anyway. But refusing to deal with the issue is hell of a way to build apathy, to encourage Green voting, and to create a certain bitterness in millions of people who give you money even as you refuse to stop calling them criminals.

Don't try to force legalization, regulation or taxes just drop the ban and let the states work it out.
