It amazes me that people believe the crap spewed out by corporate shills.

The dancing supremes knew what they were doing when they declared huge mega billion corporations are people too. Just like they knew how unjust, illegal and unconstitutional their vote to elect the bushes was. The Supremes are non-elected kings of America for life. Their whims are our laws.

I do private caregiving...and watched the progression of the ads while at my client's house...
and watched as he struggled in making up his mind...

the corporate ads were amazing in their twisting of the truth and making it sound reasonable.
They enlisted respected community leaders, family organic farmers, doctors, nurses, housewives....

And the message went from it will cost farmers, to it will cost manufacturers, add to your food bill,
and the final message in the last couple weeks it that the bill was poorly written and would cause great confusion.

My client, in spite of all our discussions, and my pointing out my side of the argument, decided that it was a badly written law and voted against it.

The ads PR folks are very clever.

if Rachel had covered this BEFORE the vote. I was just amazed at how this cash flood from Big Food and Big Pharma got not national media coverage as the campaign was being waged.

Why are these International corporations spending so much money to defeat I-522, it’s because it’s not just about Labeling our foods its all the about the creation and production of GMO foods. If you can get access to a movie called “Genetic Chile” I would recommend you watch it before you make a decision about GMO foods. I know if it passes it does not solve the real problems I believe GMOs might cause us all in the future but it gets it out in the open for further discussion.

There is so much we don’t know about the safety or risks of GMO foods and anyone who says that’s not true is only basing their opinion on hearsay information. For myself I would love to learn more about specific scientific studies that would prove it either way. The government hasn’t performed a single detail study that I can find that can be referenced but relied on the word of major corporations as to their safety to give their approval.

I agree there are two sides with every major issue but when one side will spend so much money to influence an election to stifle an honest discussion of the concerns some people have about GMOs. Then you need to ask yourself why and until I can determine that I am very reluctant to cave in on their view on this matter. Understand if we learn later a law like I-522 was unwarranted we can remove it but once you allow the introduction of GMOs into every aspect of our food supply and we learn there are problems there are experts who are concerned there is no turning back. You need to see this movie.

9. It's Not Over

The goal is "14 in '14." To get a GMO labeling option on the ballot in 14 elections in 2014. Sooner or later one will win, and the I-522 struggle, and California, will have paved the way. Consumers are waking up and the non-industry funded science, which has been very hard to come by, is trickling in slowly and even some scientists are pushing back.

I love the way Maddow is able to simplify the facts without misleading information. This is what's happening on millions of issues. It's also dissapointing that voters can't see through these types of corporate campaigns.
