The Fox News Professor of Practical Dementia delivered a particularly thought provoking lecture today on his radio university. I dare you to make sense of it:

Glenn Beck: This is the oldest argument in the progressive movement. It is the argument between, not state capitalism, because this isn’t capitalism.

This is a new sort of capitalism. No it’s not! It is socialism. No, it’s state capitalism. No it’s not! Put the Thesaurus down. It is socialism, not capitalism.

And when you say “state” you mean “national.” National Socialism. That is what Mussolini and Hitler did. National Socialism. State Capitalism. They’ve changed the name...

Beck muddles definitions of capitalism, socialism, and communism beyond recognition

But Beck's logic is flawless.

State = National.

Capitalism = Socialism.

Thus State Capitalism = National Socialism.

Ergo Progressives are Nazis.

It works with anything.

Try it yourself with...say...Furry Kittens.

Furry = National.

Kittens = Socialism.

Thus Furry Kittens = National Socialism.

There you have it. Unassailable evidence that furry kittens are Nazis.

3. The saddest aspect of Glenn

Is that his success is attributed to there being millions who believe his schtick. He would be stocking shoes at Walmart if it weren't for the fact that there's so many dunces with a TV set!

One wonders how much of this is due to 20 odd years of Fox News propaganda and how much is due to preachers promising god's approval for believing such crap.

If it weren't for right-wing fanatics, Glenn Beck would be behind one of these eight hours a day...

7. Beck makes his money through controversy: he spews BS, loud "controversy" results,

and Beck collects attention, which up his ratings and so draw advertisers

So it's pointless to argue with what he says or even to react to what he says: that just creates more "controversy" and attention for Beck, higher ratings, and better profits

Ever notice how most conspiratorial thinking and flagrant contradictions come from conservative mouths? I've heard a great theory about it....

Those who consider themselves to be "rabid individualists" feel more pressure from a society they view as oppressed, and their oppression can only come from the most outrageous, controversial, and unpredictable means that can be imagined...their feelings can't possibly be a product of subjective perception...it has to be external forces..

I think Glenn Beck is bordering on adorable and sorrowful at this point.

People like Beck; who lack critical thinking skills are extremely dangerous. In another era or setting; say; 1933 Beck would be first in line with his new brownshirt uniform paying adoration to guess who...

Actually Glenn, the people who "threw Galileo up" for claiming the earth was not the center of the universe and didn't admit they were wrong until a quarter century after men walked on the moon look a lot more like you.
