The Fox News Professor of Practical Dementia delivered a particularly thought provoking lecture today on his radio university. I dare you to make sense of it:
Glenn Beck: This is the oldest argument in the progressive movement. It is the argument between, not state capitalism, because this isnt capitalism.
This is a new sort of capitalism. No its not! It is socialism. No, its state capitalism. No its not! Put the Thesaurus down. It is socialism, not capitalism.
And when you say state you mean national. National Socialism. That is what Mussolini and Hitler did. National Socialism. State Capitalism. Theyve changed the name...

Beck muddles definitions of capitalism, socialism, and communism beyond recognition

But Beck's logic is flawless.
State = National.
Capitalism = Socialism.
Thus State Capitalism = National Socialism.
Ergo Progressives are Nazis.
It works with anything.
Try it yourself with...say...Furry Kittens.
Furry = National.
Kittens = Socialism.
Thus Furry Kittens = National Socialism.
There you have it. Unassailable evidence that furry kittens are Nazis.

(20,018 posts)One wonders how much of this is due to 20 odd years of Fox News propaganda and how much is due to preachers promising god's approval for believing such crap.

(118,282 posts)and Beck collects attention, which up his ratings and so draw advertisers
So it's pointless to argue with what he says or even to react to what he says: that just creates more "controversy" and attention for Beck, higher ratings, and better profits

(60 posts)Ever notice how most conspiratorial thinking and flagrant contradictions come from conservative mouths? I've heard a great theory about it....
Those who consider themselves to be "rabid individualists" feel more pressure from a society they view as oppressed, and their oppression can only come from the most outrageous, controversial, and unpredictable means that can be imagined...their feelings can't possibly be a product of subjective perception...it has to be external forces..
I think Glenn Beck is bordering on adorable and sorrowful at this point.
