One by one, the planks fell away until all he had left to stand on was that he wasn't black.

"Governor Soprano's" Hurricane Sandy "rescue" and moderate bipartisanship were going to usher him into the White House. Now it turns out that his idea of moderation is "my way or the highway," and that his idea of bipartisanship is "my way or I'll CLOSE your highway."

As for his Sandy sainthood, he has another problem in addition to shaking down the mayors: the company that was contracted to disburse the Sandy funds did so badly, they were fired a month ago -- and it wasn't made public knowledge. The company screwed up the disbursement of Hurricane Katrina funds as well, but the company's law firm did contribute $25K to his governors association.

And I'll be charitable and overlook the fact that the air pollution monitor nearest the George Washington Bridge went offline for 2 1/2 days during the lane closures. Had they been working, the high readings probably would have triggered a response that reopened the lanes. Bad luck, nothing more...
