It would cut mine in half. $22/hour min wage is what's fair, IMHO. grahamhgreen Jan 2014 #27
Let's make it $50! Then everyone would have enough money. That's how it works, right? Pterodactyl Jan 2014 #30

Back in the 70s one of the economic indicators they used was how much Americans were putting away in savings.

Of course, that was back when banks PAID you interest instead of CHARGING YOU to have an account with them.

Most EVERYONE had a passbook account. Checking accounts were less common and credit cards were "elitist".

He slurred his words when he read off the names in the beginning. He's really red-faced and can barely stay awake. Desperately wants to get out of there for a cigarette and another drink. Didn't hear a word that was said until the President mentioned his name. He is the most transparent person in Congress and really doesn't care.

demanding jobs a bigger take home pay. Believe me in the south when someone starts at $10.00 that's an indicator that you have a decent job and maybe some bennies in the future. If that's the minimum, that job that started at $10.00 is going to have to offer more than "McDonald's" if they expect competence.

Yes, in the north it's a joke, but in the south we may actually get jobs that pay a living wage and college education starting salary much higher than $30,000. Plus it should force jobs like teachers and nurses and social workers to insist on a better pay wage for their education and professionalism... It would be hard for contractors of these positions to argu they should be paid just a few dollars more than someone working min wage.

And if people have more $3-$6,000 more in their pockets, the economy will begin picking up faster. It's just good economic sense these days.

He said something like, "I support increasing the minimum wage and all, but it would be ridiculous for McDonalds workers to to make $15/hour. I'm an EMT and I don't even make that much!"

My first thought was, "You should be picketing with those fast food workers picketing to make $15. If they made that much, you could complain that you're a trained medical professional making less than a burger flipper and demand more!"

The divide and conquer trick really works for the wealthy and their minions. "Pay no attention to the billionaires. Look over there!!Some food stamp grifter just bought a steak!!!! Oh, and he has a cell phone, too!! You should be enraged about that!!!!"

Also, this has 2/3 to 3/4 support with the electorate and a $12.00 wage should be on every state's ballot where possible.
